Google for Startups Accelerator

Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa is an equity-free accelerator program run by Google for Startups. It supports technology startups across Africa through a three-month hybrid format, providing access to Google's programs, products, people, and technology. The program targets growth-stage startups demonstrating traction, building scalable products with significant market potential, and leveraging technologies like AI and machine learning. From October 2021 to August 2024, the accelerator participated in 20 funding rounds totaling $1.8M, primarily at Other (10), Venture (unspecified, 7), and Seed (3) stages. It focused on Fintech (9 investments), Agri Tech (3), Travel & Mobility (2), and Health Tech (2), with geographic emphasis on Nigeria (6), Kenya (5), Uganda (4), Ghana (2), South Africa (2), and Rwanda (1). Backed companies include Nobuk Collect, EzyAgric, Flexpay, Hervest, Xente, and SafeBoda. Participants receive expert mentorship, technical training, Google Cloud credits up to $350,000, and networking opportunities. The program has supported over 180 startups since 2018, aiding in scaling, fundraising, and job creation across 17 African countries.
