clinicPesa is a Uganda-based digital healthcare financing platform for uninsured individuals and partner healthcare facilities, enabling dedicated medical micro-savings, short-term loans, and instant medical bill payments using mobile money.

Key capabilities include:

• Healthcare-only savings from UGX 500, with optional AutoSave (standing orders) and interest up to 5% annually; savings can be carried forward, and withdrawals are available after 12 months (6 to 11 months withdrawals incur a fee equivalent to accrued interest).
• Medical loan top-ups from UGX 3,000 to UGX 3,000,000 at 7% interest, payable within 30 days; loan limits depend on MTN network tenure and usage (voice, data, Mobile Money), savings behavior, and repayment history.
• Pay medical bills at partner facilities by entering a facility merchant code, then paying with savings, loans, or both; facilities receive payment immediately after confirmation.
• clinicPesa MaMa’s maternal health savings plans in the Android app, with savings targets for delivery, birth preparedness kits, transport, and antenatal-related needs.

It serves individuals 18+ with an MTN Mobile Money line, expectant women and couples using MaMa’s plans, plus clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, and drug shops that need digital collections and transaction records (facilities can withdraw with a 1% fee).

Notable in Uganda for enabling healthcare financing without internet through USSD, holding savings in an escrow account with Equity Bank, and operating under stated regulation by the Bank of Uganda, UMRA, and the National Drugs Authority.
