Proparco is France’s development finance institution dedicated to the private sector and is part of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group. The portfolio includes African innovators such as Cauridor, Littlefish, Beacon Power Services, Rubyx, Complete Farmer, ANKA, Maad, Workpay, Jetstream, Paps, Max Drive and JUMO, with a strong geographic focus on markets such as South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire and Algeria. Proparco reports that Africa is a primary region of intervention, with nearly half of its global commitments directed to the continent in recent years. As the private sector arm of the AFD Group, it targets projects that foster job creation, inclusive growth and climate friendly development, often working alongside other development finance institutions and impact investors to catalyze additional capital for African businesses.
