Guidelines for product owners
Rules for claims, listing changes, review requests, public replies, reports, and paid promotion.
Keep your product information accurate
Claimed product access lets you propose changes to your listing and reply to reviews. Liners checks proposed listing changes before they go live.
Use your real work details, describe the product as it works now, and support material corrections with a reliable source. Do not add claims that a source cannot support. The product listing standards apply to new and existing listings.
Claim only products you represent
You may claim a product only when you have authority to represent it. Liners may use a work email or another approved contact route to check that relationship.
Do not:
- Claim a competitor's product.
- Share a claim link or invite with someone outside your organisation.
- Impersonate an employee, founder, or authorised agent.
- Use false documents or contact details.
Liners may remove access if the claim no longer appears valid. Read how product claiming works for the current claim flow.
Ask for honest reviews
You may ask customers to share an honest review. Ask users in a fair way and give them the same freedom to praise or criticise the product.
You must not:
- Offer money, credit, gifts, discounts, access, or other rewards for a review.
- Make a reward depend on a positive rating.
- Ask only customers you expect to leave high ratings.
- Supply review text or tell a customer which rating to choose.
- Ask staff, contractors, relatives, or business partners to hide their connection.
- Create accounts or arrange reviews for customers.
The guidelines for reviewers explain what each reviewer must follow.
Reply to reviews with care
Product owners may reply to approved reviews on a claimed listing. Address the points in the review and keep the reply respectful.
Do not reveal private account details, payment records, support messages, or personal data. Do not threaten a reviewer or pressure them to edit or remove a review.
Report rule breaches, not criticism
Product managers may report an approved review when they believe it breaks the review rules. A low rating or a view you disagree with is not enough.
Give a clear reason and any source that helps Liners check the report. Do not file repeated reports to delay or suppress a review. Liners may ask the reviewer for more detail before deciding what to do.
Read moderation, reports and enforcement for the report process.
Understand paid plans and ads
Paid listing plans may include extra listing features. Ads use labelled paid placements. Payment does not change user ratings, review moderation, comparison scores, alternatives similarity, or search relevance.
Read how advertising works and how Liners ranks products before buying a plan or ad.
Verified status has limits
A verified badge means Liners checked the listing or product relationship to a reasonable extent. It does not mean Liners tested, approved, or recommends the product.
The verified product status guide explains how readers should understand the badge.
