Samurai Incubate

Samurai Incubate Africa is the Africa-focused arm of Samurai Incubate Inc., a Tokyo-based venture capital firm founded in 2008. The firm specializes in early-stage investments, particularly seed-stage startups, and operates across multiple countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa. Samurai Incubate Africa supports founders building businesses that contribute to Africa's future through investment and hands-on guidance. From March 2021 to November 2022, Samurai Incubate Africa participated in five funding rounds totaling $9.9M, primarily at the seed stage (four rounds) with one venture round. Investments targeted productivity and workspace (two), logistics and supply chain (one), fintech (one), and travel and mobility (one) sectors. Geographic focus included Kenya (two), Nigeria (two), and South Africa (one), backing companies such as Leta, Norebase, Kwara, Eden, and LULA. The firm has co-invested with partners like Future Africa, Launch Africa Ventures, and 4Di Capital across these rounds.
