DigiTip

DigiTip is a South African digital tipping solution for businesses and venues that host informal workers, enabling parking attendants and car washers to receive tips electronically instead of in cash.

Key capabilities include:

• QR-based tipping with Zapper: each worker is issued a unique Zapper QR code on a lanyard; customers scan the code in the Zapper app to send a tip and receive an in-app confirmation.
• Weekly settlement to FNB eWallet: tips are totalled weekly and paid out to each worker’s FNB eWallet, supporting recipients who may not use traditional bank accounts.
• Onboarding and support: the service includes sign-up through a team member and training for workers who are unfamiliar with digital payments.
• Deployment across real-world sites: the service operates across multiple locations in and around Durban, including retail and hospitality areas such as Musgrave, Hillcrest, Durban North, Umhlanga, Salt Rock, and Mount Edgecombe.
