SAPay

SAPay is a fintech payment and fleet management platform for South Africa’s minibus taxi industry, serving passengers, drivers, taxi owners, and associations with cashless fares and connected “Smart Taxi” operations.

Key capabilities include:

• Cashless fare payments via tap or scan with a phone on in-vehicle sensors, SAPay cards (QR-based), and credit or debit cards. Taxis can also accept Visa “Tap on Phone” NFC payments through a dedicated driver app.
• Digital wallet top-ups from credit or debit cards, with support for buying SAPay cards through participating retailers and taxi ranks (for riders without smartphones or bank cards).
• Driver tools for route and fare management, including starting and ending shifts, selecting routes, viewing a passenger fare list, and issuing manual refunds.
• Owner and association visibility through real-time vehicle tracking, operational dashboards for monitoring vehicles and earnings, and an association reward model that pays (as described on the onboarding pages).
