Spiro and Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners launched a Women in E-Mobility programme in Rwanda, with a pilot targeting 500 women.
Spiro and Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners (ESP) have launched the Women in E-Mobility programme in Rwanda. The initiative aims to train women to become professional electric motorcycle riders and support them to build businesses.
Spiro, described as Africa’s leading electric mobility company, and Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners (ESP), a pan-African firm specialising in entrepreneurship development, launched the programme in Rwanda.
The programme is already underway. The first 50 women have started training as part of an initial pilot targeting 500 participants.
According to the announcement, the programme combines practical and entrepreneurial training, access to affordable electric motorcycles, financing, and commercial opportunities. The goal is to help women develop their own businesses and generate sustainable income.
Spiro and ESP said they aim to support 5,000 women across Africa by 2030, with a planned expansion to other African markets after the Rwanda pilot.
The announcement frames the programme as a push to increase women’s participation in electric mobility, which it describes as a growing sector in Africa.
In Rwanda, the partners say women represent just 4% of transport workers. The pilot is positioned as one way to bring more women into transport work and related small businesses, using electric motorcycles as the entry point.
