Paratus Group has launched Paratus Lesotho to provide high-speed internet services in Lesotho. The unit will offer Starlink enterprise connectivity alongside Paratus network solutions.
Paratus Lesotho will sell high-speed internet services backed by local customer and technical support. The company says it will provide Starlink enterprise connectivity to businesses and organisations across the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Paratus Lesotho is a joint venture between Real Image Lesotho and Paratus Group. The company is led by Managing Director Makali Lepholisa, who has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across customs modernisation, trade facilitation, business strategy and stakeholder engagement.
Lepholisa said, “Backed by the Paratus Group’s expertise and track record in other countries, I am very excited about the opportunities for Paratus Lesotho to support the country’s social and economic development through reliable and innovative technology solutions.”
Paratus Lesotho says it is an authorised Starlink reseller. It plans to offer enterprise connectivity using low earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology, which uses satellites closer to Earth than traditional satellite internet. The company says this can deliver high-speed, low-latency (less lag) internet access in locations where fibre and other terrestrial infrastructure may be limited or unavailable.
Paratus says Lesotho’s mountainous terrain makes it difficult to build conventional telecoms infrastructure, particularly outside major urban centres. For businesses and organisations operating in remote areas, the company says reliable connectivity can be hard to access, which can limit growth and access to essential digital services.
By combining Starlink enterprise connectivity with Paratus network solutions, Paratus Lesotho is positioning itself to serve customers beyond the reach of traditional terrestrial networks. The company also says customers will benefit from the technical expertise and established network capabilities of the wider Paratus Group, which it describes as operating in 16 countries across sub-equatorial Africa and having international points of presence in Europe, the UK and the USA.
