Paratus Tanzania has set up a new point of presence at Wingu Data Center in Dar es Salaam to expand connectivity options for ISPs and businesses.
Paratus Tanzania has established a new point of presence, or POP, at Wingu Data Center in Dar es Salaam.
A POP is a physical network location that helps route internet traffic and connect customers to wider networks.
Paratus Tanzania, part of the pan-African telecommunications and network services provider Paratus Group, has established a new POP at Wingu Data Center in Dar es Salaam.
Paratus says the new infrastructure strengthens its East African network and expands regional and international connectivity options for telecommunications operators, internet service providers (ISPs) and businesses in Tanzania.
The company says the POP was established in September 2026. It connects Tanzania to the wider Paratus network, with routes extending north to Nairobi via Mombasa, south to Maputo and onward to Johannesburg and Eswatini, and internationally to Europe and the US.
Paratus says the move supports its Kigali to Mombasa (K2M) network strategy. It is also positioned as a way to strengthen connectivity between East African markets and provide access to international subsea cable capacity.
Through the Dar es Salaam POP, Paratus Tanzania says it can provide IP transit, layer two circuits, wholesale network capacity and international connectivity services to local carriers, ISPs and enterprises.
Paratus Tanzania Managing Director Said Alli said: “Our focus is on connecting Tanzania to the wider Paratus network and giving businesses and service providers access to the regional and international connectivity they need. This new POP strengthens our local capabilities while creating more opportunities for our customers to connect with markets beyond Tanzania.”
For Tanzanian carriers, ISPs and enterprises, a local POP can mean more ways to connect to regional and global networks through one provider’s infrastructure.
Paratus also frames the POP as part of its wider strategy to expand its African network and strengthen interconnection between key markets, linking its East and southern Africa operations more closely.
