Nigerian startup Lumora is building a multi app platform with chat, cloud storage, an AI assistant and study tools under one login.
Lumora is a Nigerian startup building a single-login digital ecosystem that combines chat, cloud storage, an AI assistant, and study tools.
Lumora was founded in January 2025 by Samuel Derrick. He said the product is meant to replace the separate apps people use for everyday digital tasks.
Derrick described Lumora as “one login and one ecosystem,” instead of “downloading and maintaining five or six different apps.” He also said many tools in Nigeria and across Africa “solve one problem each,” which can force users to juggle multiple apps that each use separate data and storage.
The platform currently includes four sub-apps. They are Sachat for real-time chat, VaultX for cloud file storage, RawAI for an AI assistant that generates text, audio and video, and Studium for study tools aimed at students.
Lumora has shipped version 1.2 and is now building version 1.3. It is live on the web and in closed testing on the Google Play Store. Derrick said Lumora has 95 registered users who have sent more than 1,000 messages.
He said growth has been organic through personal networks and direct outreach because he does not have a marketing budget. Derrick also said the startup previously saw active users drop from 25 to zero after an early onboarding flow caused most first users to drop off.
Lumora is self-funded, has not raised external capital, and is pre-revenue. Derrick said the monetisation plan is a tiered model with a free standard tier and a paid ultimate tier, with payments processed through Flutterwave. He also described a longer-term plan for a developer tier where others could create and monetise apps within Lumora.
Lumora is pitching a bundled approach to common digital needs, aimed at people using devices with limited storage and facing data cost constraints.
The product is also an example of a solo-built startup. Derrick said his biggest challenge has been building without a team, co-founder, or funding while being a full-time student. He also cited a technical setback, he said he accidentally damaged a local AI training server with water.
Lumora currently operates only in Nigeria, but Derrick said the platform is built to scale to other African markets with similar issues around data cost and app fragmentation.
