EFG EV Fintech is Egypt's flagship fintech-focused startup accelerator and micro-VC firm. Established in 2017 as a joint venture between EFG Hermes Holdingβs wholly owned subsidiary EFG Finance and the government-backed venture capital fund Egypt Ventures, it is based in Cairo, Egypt. The firm supports strategic fintech startups through funding, legal advisory, commercial mentorship, and accelerator programs in collaboration with Falak Startups. EFG EV Fintech invested $16.0M across four funding rounds from June 2018 to May 2021, primarily at the seed stage (three rounds) and one venture round. Its investments focused on fintech (three companies) and agritech (one), all in Egypt, including Nowpay (seed, $15.0M, Dec 2020), Mozare3 (seed, $1.0M, May 2021), and XPay (seed $40K and venture, Jun 2018). The firm co-invested with partners such as Disruptech Ventures, Algebra Ventures, and 500 Startups. By the end of 2021, EFG EV Fintech's portfolio included 24 companies, with 50% under its accelerator program and 50% under its micro-VC arm. It continues to strengthen Egypt's fintech ecosystem through partnerships and support for innovative startups.
