Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund

Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF) is a $58 million impact investment fund focused on building the climate resilience of smallholder farmers in Africa. It is sponsored by Acumen and managed by Acumen Capital Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Acumen, and is structured as Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund LLC. According to its official mandate, ARAF invests in early and early growth stage agribusinesses in Africa that help smallholder farmers anticipate, survive, and recover from climate events, leading to increased yields and incomes. The fund targets models that provide smallholders with critical products and services such as markets, advisory support, and other agricultural solutions that improve resilience and livelihoods. In line with this strategy and the available investment data, ARAF has backed agritech companies in Ghana at the seed and early stages, including investments in Complete Farmer and Farmerline. ARAF is anchored by the Green Climate Fund and supported by a group of leading development finance institutions and philanthropic investors, including FMO, the Soros Economic Development Fund, Proparco, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, Global Social Impact, and the IKEA Foundation. Its investment approach combines climate adaptation, inclusive economic development, and food security objectives by channeling patient capital into high impact agribusinesses serving smallholder farmers across Africa.
