Walletii by Ooredoo is now live in Tunisia. Ooredoo says families can get 100% instant cashback on school fee payments until September 15.
Ooredoo Fintech, working with Ooredoo Tunisia, announced the launch of Walletii by Ooredoo in Tunisia. Walletii by Ooredoo is a mobile wallet, which is an app that stores money digitally so you can pay and transfer funds without using cash.
The company says the product is built to simplify daily payments and support financial inclusion, meaning helping more people access formal financial services. The launch leans on the distribution and retail footprint of Ooredoo in Tunisia, including its sales points and customer touchpoints.
As part of the rollout, Walletii by Ooredoo is running a back-to-school promotion. Up to September 15, customers who use the wallet to pay school fees receive an instant 100% cashback. The offer applies to payments for a maximum of three children per customer.
Beyond school fees, Ooredoo says the wallet will support domestic bill payments, sending and receiving money, and deposits and withdrawals through approved agents. It also supports QR code payments, which let users scan a code at a merchant to pay from their phone.
Telecom-led wallets keep expanding across North Africa, often using agent networks and retail stores to reach users who are underbanked. For Tunisia, the promise is more digital payments for common use cases like utilities, tuition, and groceries.
The 100% cashback offer is also a direct user acquisition play. If it drives repeat usage after the promotion ends, it could help Walletii by Ooredoo compete for everyday payment volume, not just one seasonal bill.
