Safaricom is moving M-PESA App users to My OneApp from November 1 as it phases out both the M-PESA App and MySafaricom App.
Safaricom is migrating users from the M-PESA App and MySafaricom App to My OneApp, a single app that combines Safaricom and M-PESA services.
Safaricom says My OneApp brings its Safaricom services and M-PESA services together in one app, so users no longer need to switch between separate applications.
The company says the M-PESA App and MySafaricom App are being retired, and users need to download My OneApp to keep accessing services through the unified app.
Safaricom’s FAQ says the migration will happen in phases. From 1st November, M-PESA App users will be required to move to My OneApp. From 15th January, MySafaricom App users will be required to move. By 31st January, support for both old apps ends and both apps will be retired.
Safaricom says users can download My OneApp for free from the Google Play Store for Android phones and the Apple App Store for iPhones. It also warns users to only download from official app stores and says not to install APK files from unofficial websites.
Safaricom says users should migrate early to avoid interruptions.
The company says the move does not affect a user’s M-PESA balance or account. It also says completed M-PESA transactions are not affected. If a user cannot find specific transaction information in My OneApp, Safaricom advises contacting Customer Care for assistance.
Safaricom says saved Favourites and Bill Manager details are expected to migrate to My OneApp. If they are missing after logging in, the company says users should contact Customer Care.
Safaricom also notes that users can download the app using Wi Fi, but they will need Safaricom mobile data to activate it.
For help with downloading, activating, or using My OneApp, Safaricom says users can contact Customer Care or visit a Safaricom Retail Shop.
