Pesa announced a partnership with the Adekunle Gold Foundation to launch We’re Not Done and committed $20,000 to support sickle cell groups.
Pesa announced a partnership with the Adekunle Gold Foundation to launch “We’re Not Done,” a charitable initiative focused on support for people and families living with sickle cell disease.
The company said it has committed USD $20,000 to fund the initiative’s launch and inaugural cycle.
Pesa said the partnership is part of its 5th Anniversary celebrations. It described the initiative as a way to support frontline organisations working with people affected by sickle cell disease.
The USD $20,000 donation is intended to provide direct resources and support to selected beneficiaries across multiple countries. The organisations listed as beneficiaries are Sickle Cell Advocacy Management Initiative in Nigeria, Not Just You in Canada, Sickle Life in Ghana, and It Takes A Village in the United Kingdom.
Pesa said “We’re Not Done” combines wellness activities, psychosocial support, sickle cell screening, genetic counseling, and public awareness. Genetic counseling is medical guidance that helps families understand how a condition can be passed on.
Tolu Osho, Co-Founder and CEO of Pesa, said the company wanted to “give back directly to the communities that have trusted us from day one,” and that its work is “more than moving money across borders.”
Adekunle Gold, Founder of the Adekunle Gold Foundation, said the initiative is about “turning awareness into action” and providing more resources to organisations supporting people living with sickle cell.
The announcement shows Pesa tying a milestone celebration to a defined community spend, with named partner organisations across Nigeria and Ghana, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom.
For founders and operators, it is also a reminder that fintech brands are competing not only on product, but also on how they show up for the communities they serve.
