The company said the decision followed a review of its product portfolio and long-term priorities. Moniepoint described the change as a strategic transition, with a renewed focus on “building and scaling its core platform for African businesses.”

MonieWorld launched in April 2025 to target the UK to Nigeria money transfer corridor. At launch, it supported funding via cards, British bank accounts, and digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, then paid out to Nigerian bank accounts.

Moniepoint said it will keep processing customer funds during the transition period and will provide guidance to users on what to do next. The company did not share a final shutdown date in the update.

This is a clear pullback from UK expansion for Moniepoint. It signals that the company is prioritising markets where it already has scale, distribution, and clearer paths to revenue.
