Bujeti has launched a payroll product aimed at reducing month-end reconciliation work by connecting HR inputs with finance controls for African businesses.
Bujeti has launched a payroll product that sits inside what it calls its Finance Control Centre. Bujeti is positioning payroll as the workflow link between HR and finance.
In many companies, HR prepares salary figures like pay, deductions, and prorated amounts. Finance then reviews totals, approvals happen by email, and payments go out through a bank portal or an HR system. After that, finance still has to reconcile each salary payment back into the accounts, confirm statutory deductions like PAYE (pay-as-you-earn income tax) and pension contributions, and fix postings to the wrong cost centre.
Bujeti says this back-and-forth can take finance teams two to three days each month. The company wants its payroll tooling to help teams close payroll not only by paying staff, but also by getting the entries accounted for in the books.
Cossi Achille Arouko, Bujeti CEO and co-founder, said payroll should be predictable but is often stressful to run and to close. He said finance teams spend days untangling what happened after salaries go out, and that is the problem Bujeti is targeting with the launch.
Payroll is one of the biggest and most frequent cash outflows for growing businesses. When payroll data lives in HR tools and the financial controls live elsewhere, teams end up relying on spreadsheets, email approvals, and manual accounting.
For African SMEs scaling past 50 employees, the operational cost is not only time. It is also higher risk of errors, weak audit trails (a clear record of who changed what), and poor visibility into how payroll impacts budgets.
If Bujeti can make payroll easier to reconcile and easier to approve with proper finance context, it could become a stronger system of record for internal spend control, not just another HR add-on.
