MULTICAIXA

MULTICAIXA is Angola’s interbank card network, managed by EMIS - Empresa Interbancária de Serviços, S.A., serving bank card users, merchants, and participating financial institutions.

It provides a shared infrastructure for day-to-day card and terminal services across the network, including:

• ATM services such as cash withdrawals, balance and account movement consultations, and bank transfers
• Payments for services and purchases via ATM and TPA/POS terminals
• Cardless cash withdrawal using a 3-digit secret code (Levantamento Sem Cartão)
• QR code payments on physical POS terminals by scanning a QR generated by the TPA using MCX Express
• Electronic Code (Código Electrónico) sent by SMS to set a card PIN at an ATM instead of receiving a PIN letter
• Support for internationally branded cards, including Visa and Mastercard, on the network

Available on Web, with MCX Express available on Android and iOS.

Target users include consumers using bank cards and digital payment channels, merchants accepting card and QR payments on POS terminals, and banks in Angola that participate in the interbank network.
