Valu Expands Majid Al Futtaim Payments at Vox, Ski Egypt

What Happened

Egyptian fintech Valu announced an expanded strategic partnership with Majid Al Futtaim, the operator behind major entertainment destinations in Egypt.

Under the deal, Valu is now integrated as a payment method at three venues. It is available offline at VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet. At Ski Egypt, it is available both online and offline.

Valu said customers will be able to pay using their Valu limits. That usually means a pre-approved spending cap that can be repaid over time, similar to using a credit line.

The companies also said exclusive offers are planned for customers who pay with the Valu Prepaid Card or through Valu’s flexible payment plans. Specific offer details and timelines were not shared.

Why It Matters

Buy now, pay later, often shortened to BNPL, lets customers split a purchase into multiple payments instead of paying upfront. In Egypt, this model has mostly been associated with retail and big-ticket items like electronics.

This partnership shows BNPL moving further into everyday leisure spending, including cinema tickets and family entertainment. That can increase how often customers use the product, not just the size of each transaction.

For Majid Al Futtaim, adding an instalment option can help reduce price sensitivity, especially for younger consumers and families managing cash flow. For Valu, more offline acceptance points can help it compete for repeat usage in physical locations, not only online checkouts.
