Globus Bank and AUST explored a strategic collaboration on a school management platform, digital payments reconciliation, and possible CBT centre financing.
Globus Bank and the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) are exploring a strategic collaboration.
The talks covered a school management platform, digital transformation, and possible financing for university projects.
Globus Bank and AUST met on August 26, 2026, in the university’s President’s Boardroom to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
During the visit, Globus Bank presented a school management platform and other banking tools designed for educational institutions. The bank said the platform combines payments, financial management, human resources, data management, hostel administration, revenue collection, staff training, and e-learning.
AUST’s president, Prof. Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, pointed to operational pain points linked to the university’s growth. These included difficulty identifying incoming bank transfers, failed digital payments, and limited integration across admissions, finance, and HR systems.
The university said it is interested in tools that improve payment reconciliation, meaning matching what students paid with what the university received, like balancing a shop’s sales with its bank deposits. It also wants systems that reduce manual work and connect departments.
Beyond software, both parties discussed financing options. These included working-capital facilities, which are short-term loans for day-to-day operations, education-related lending, and funding for a proposed Computer-Based Testing (CBT) centre.
Both sides agreed to continue discussions, including a technical meeting between their IT teams to review the platform and assess integration.
Universities in Nigeria are under pressure to handle more students while keeping fee payments, records, and reporting accurate. When payment channels fail or transfers are hard to trace, schools face delays in confirming registration and collecting revenue.
If AUST and Globus Bank move forward, it could show how banks are pushing beyond basic accounts into institution management software. That trend can tighten collections, improve audit trails, and create new lending opportunities tied to school infrastructure and services.
