Valu partners with AXA Egypt to embed Credit Life insurance for 500,000+ customers, aligning with Egypt FRA Decision 28 of 2026 on borrower protection.
Valu has partnered with AXA Egypt to roll out Credit Life insurance for its consumer finance customers in Egypt. The cover is live immediately.
Valu said it has signed a strategic partnership with AXA Egypt to integrate a comprehensive Credit Life insurance policy into its financing products.
Credit Life insurance is a type of cover that pays off a borrower’s remaining loan if the borrower dies or becomes permanently disabled. In plain terms, it stops a family from inheriting the debt.
Valu said the policy is designed to protect more than 500,000 existing customers. It also covers outstanding balances of more than EGP 13 billion.
The rollout is tied to Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority, FRA, Board Decision No. 28 of 2026. That decision requires consumer finance companies to secure insurance coverage against death and permanent disability for borrowing clients.
Valu also said the partnership is powered by Amanleek, which helped structure the arrangement and connect the parties.
Egypt’s non-banking financial services sector is tightening compliance around consumer lending. For consumer finance and BNPL players, embedding insurance is becoming part of the cost of operating, not a nice-to-have.
For Valu, the move reduces credit risk at scale. If insured balances are cleared automatically after a covered event, lenders can expect lower losses and more predictable repayment performance.
It may also make future securitizations easier. Securitization is when a lender bundles loans and sells them to investors, similar to packaging many small IOUs into one investable product.
For the wider market, the deal is another signal that embedded insurance, meaning insurance built into another product’s checkout or application flow, is gaining ground in African fintech and consumer credit.
