Swedfund’s Q3 2026 interim report says it signed four investment agreements worth SEK 1,166 million, including Zanaco and NSIA Banque Bénin.
Swedfund published its interim report for the third quarter of 2026, outlining new investments focused on SME finance and climate-related businesses.
Swedfund said its latest investments are meant to increase access to capital for small and medium-sized enterprises in Africa and support the climate transition in both Africa and India.
During the quarter, Swedfund signed four new investment agreements totalling SEK 1,166 million.
Swedfund said its investments in Zanaco in Zambia and NSIA Banque Bénin aim to enable more micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to invest, grow and create jobs. The report does not specify how much of the SEK 1,166 million total went to Zanaco.
Swedfund also said that within energy and climate, it invested in businesses that reduce emissions and strengthen resilience to climate change in India and Africa. The interim report does not name the businesses.
At the end of the quarter, Swedfund said its portfolio’s total value stood at SEK 16.5 billion. It added that 36 per cent of the portfolio is invested in the world’s least developed countries.
The report also describes the Project Accelerator initiating five new projects. Swedfund said these projects focus on circular solutions, sustainable energy and transport.
Swedfund also said the report covers the first decisions to support partnerships between Swedish and Ukrainian companies through the Swedfund Business Accelerator.
For African SMEs, Swedfund’s investments in Zanaco and NSIA Banque Bénin point to more financing flowing through local banks, which can affect how easily smaller businesses can access capital.
For climate-linked businesses, Swedfund’s report signals that its portfolio is continuing to include investments aimed at emissions reduction and climate resilience across Africa and India.
The portfolio figures, SEK 16.5 billion in total value and 36 per cent in the least developed countries, also show where Swedfund says it is allocating capital in markets with large funding gaps.
