Société Tunisienne de Banque closed subscriptions early for its STB Subordonné 2026 subordinated bond, completing the 150 million dinar issue.
Société Tunisienne de Banque (STB) says it has successfully closed subscriptions for its subordinated bond, “STB Subordonné 2026,” for a total amount of 150 million dinars.
STB announced the early closure of subscriptions to “STB Subordonné 2026,” a subordinated bond issue. The subscription period had opened from 19 October 2026, in line with a notice published by the Conseil du Marché Financier (CMF).
The bank said the operation was authorised by its Ordinary General Assembly held on 30 April 2026. STB described the issuance as part of its strategy to strengthen its supplementary own funds and to support a lasting consolidation of its financial structure.
STB also said the bond issue was not driven by a cash or liquidity need. The bank said it has a surplus treasury position and “particularly comfortable” liquidity and transformation ratios, and that these are above regulatory requirements.
According to STB, the full amount of the issuance was closed before the initially planned deadline. It said this reflected investor interest during the placement period and market confidence in the quality of STB’s signature, its financial strength, and its development outlook.
STB said the operation supports a proactive capital management approach to strengthen supplementary own funds, improve solvency ratios, and increase its capacity to develop. The bank added that the outcome confirms the credibility of its strategy and its ability to mobilise resources to support Tunisia’s economy while maintaining “solid financial balances.”
A subordinated bond is a type of debt that ranks behind other debts if a company is liquidated, meaning it is repaid after senior creditors. For a bank like STB, the issuance can be used to reinforce supplementary capital and support solvency ratios, which are measures of a bank’s ability to absorb losses.
STB is positioning the deal as a balance sheet move rather than a short-term liquidity raise. The early full subscription also signals strong demand from investors for the bank’s subordinated debt.
