Hubtel said Akyianu pushed three priorities as chair. It listed them as maintaining trust, making everyday payments simpler for customers and merchants, and raising governance standards as Hubtel’s role in Ghana’s digital economy grows.

The company also outlined board-level work she supported during her time as a director. It said this included formalising board committees, strengthening internal controls (the checks that reduce errors and fraud), sharpening audit oversight cadence (more consistent review cycles), and aligning governance with Bank of Ghana guidelines.

Akyianu had a long career across banking and insurance leadership roles. Hubtel referenced roles at Standard Chartered, Barclays Bank Ghana, now Absa, Ecobank Ghana, and Hollard Ghana.
