Seekr says CPayant deployed an AI credit scoring system built on SeekrFlow, approving over 75% of applicants for financing in days.
CPayant has deployed an AI credit scoring system built on SeekrFlow.
Seekr says the system is designed to show financing partners why a business is creditworthy, and show applicants why they received a specific score and what could improve it.
Seekr says more than 75% of African businesses that applied were approved for financing in days.
CPayant is a US headquartered digital trade banking platform for African importers and exporters. Seekr announced that CPayant deployed an AI credit scoring system built on SeekrFlow.
The system focuses on explainability, meaning it can show the reasons behind a score, rather than acting like a black box where users only see the result. Seekr says the system is also auditable, meaning outputs can be reviewed and checked.
Seekr says the system separates data preparation from the credit decision. AI agents gather and prepare transaction, volume and repayment data. A transparent scoring engine then produces the score, based on factors defined by CPayant.
Emmanuel Tokunbo Darko, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of CPayant, said, “Every business is scored on the same factors: how often it transacts, the volumes it moves, how it repays. And it can see exactly why it scored the way it did.”
Seekr says that since CPayant began presenting AI scored credit profiles to its financing partners, over 75% of African businesses that applied have been approved for financing.
Seekr also shared an example where a CPayant client applied for a $250,000 import credit line and qualified for a $1.2 million revolving credit line.
The announcement links the product to what it calls “opacity” in trade finance decisions. Seekr cites that across Africa, banks approve 63% of trade finance applications from small businesses, compared with 80% for applications overall, and says banks most often cite inability to establish creditworthiness.
Lloyd Cope, Chief Revenue Officer at Seekr, said, “A credit financing partner doesn’t fund a number. It funds a reason.”
