About ClassroomIO

ClassroomIO is an open-source learning management system (LMS) for companies and training providers that run customer education, partner onboarding, and employee training from a single platform.

Key capabilities include:

  • AI-assisted course authoring that turns internal docs, policies, and videos into course outlines, lessons, and quizzes with human review before publishing, plus an AI teaching assistant built into every lesson to answer learner questions.
  • Cohort-based learning with goal-setting, team-level oversight, and progress tracking, alongside compliance and certification tracking: deadline monitoring, grace periods, renewal intervals, waivers, and branded certificates with custom IDs.
  • Multi-academy, multi-org setup for separate Customer, Partner, and Internal academies, each with its own branding and custom domain (CNAME with SSL handled) under one login and bill, plus course delivery in 10+ languages.
  • Embeddable courses via script tag for help centers or in-product experiences, and a REST API, webhooks, JWT-based Token Auth for signing users in from external apps, and an MCP server for AI-native course automation with clients such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex.

Available on Web, as a hosted product at app.classroomio.com or as a self-hosted, AGPL-licensed open-source deployment on infrastructure such as Docker, Railway, Coolify, Dokploy, or DigitalOcean, with configurable SMTP and object storage for self-hosters.

Target users include B2B teams running certification, compliance, product onboarding, and enablement programs, plus bootcamps and training businesses that want branded academies and completion tracking as an alternative to Moodle, EdX, Thinkific, and Teachable.

Built by founder Rotimi Best, who has developed ClassroomIO as a bootstrapped, open-source project for more than five years. The founder is Nigerian and has presented ClassroomIO at the University of Lagos's EduAI Hub Summit, though the product itself markets and serves companies globally rather than within a confirmed set of countries.

Frequently Asked Questions About ClassroomIO

ClassroomIO is an open-source learning management system (LMS) that lets companies and training providers create AI-assisted courses, host branded academies on custom domains, and deliver customer, partner, and employee training from a single web platform. You feed in internal docs, policies, and videos, ClassroomIO helps draft course structures, lessons, and quizzes, and learners work through cohort-based courses with progress tracking, compliance and certificate tracking, and an AI teaching assistant in each lesson.

ClassroomIO has a free Basic plan (up to 20 students, unlimited courses, 500K AI credits per month, MCP access, ClassroomIO branding), an Early Adopters plan at $35/month (10K students, video uploads and certificates, custom branding and domain, 3M AI credits per month, limited API access), and a custom-priced Enterprise plan (unlimited students and API requests, 15M AI credits per month, SSO, 24/7 support). Annual billing gets a 2-month discount, and extra AI credits can be purchased at $5 per 2M tokens. Self-hosting the open-source edition has no license fee, but you cover your own infrastructure costs.

ClassroomIO is founded and maintained by Rotimi Best, who is Nigerian and has presented the product at the University of Lagos's EduAI Hub Summit, which is why Nigeria is listed as its country of origin. Beyond that, ClassroomIO markets and serves customers globally as a hosted product and as self-hosted open-source software, and there is no verified evidence of a confirmed office or subsidiary in any other specific African country.

You can sign up for ClassroomIO at app.classroomio.com with an email and password, or by using your Google account. After creating your account, you provide your name and organization name, complete a short onboarding survey, and land on your dashboard, where you can set up academies, import content, and start building courses.

ClassroomIO is available on the web and is designed with a mobile-first application layout, so learners can access lesson materials from phones and tablets via a browser. There is no verified evidence of native Android or iOS mobile apps.
