Yggdrasil Gaming expanded in South Africa with new SportyBet and Playco.za partnerships, adding 100+ slot games via Intelligent Gaming integrations.
Yggdrasil Gaming has expanded its South Africa footprint through new partnerships with SportyBet and Playco.za, adding more than 100 casino games to both operators’ libraries via Intelligent Gaming.
Yggdrasil Gaming, a Malta-based iGaming publisher, said it has gone live with Sportybet and Playco.za in South Africa.
The double launch gives both betting operators access to Yggdrasil’s slot game portfolio. Slot games are digital casino games that use random number generators, which is software that “shuffles” outcomes like an automated draw.
Yggdrasil said the rollout includes established titles such as MexoMax, Bob Marlin Goes Deep, Vikings Go to Olympus, and Raptor 2 DoubleMax. It also includes new content from studios in its YGGMasters Programme.
In total, more than 100 games were added across the two brands.
Yggdrasil said the integrations were enabled via Intelligent Gaming. In practice, this is a middleware layer, which is software that connects two systems so games can be switched on inside an operator’s app or website with less custom engineering.
Giovanni Fodera, regional manager at Yggdrasil, said South Africa is a strategically important market for the company and that the partnerships help extend the reach of its content across Africa.
South Africa remains one of the largest regulated iGaming markets on the continent. The National Gambling Board reported EUR 75.47 billion in turnover for the 2024/25 financial year.
For suppliers like Yggdrasil, partnerships with local operators are often the fastest route to distribution. Instead of acquiring users directly, publishers plug into brands that already have customers, payments, and compliance processes.
For operators, adding 100-plus games is a content play. More titles can improve retention, which is how often users come back, and can help brands compete on variety without building games in-house.
