Xceed365HR founder Chuma Chukwujama shared how he moved from electrical engineering into telecom and cloud software, then built an HR platform for Africa.
Chuma Chukwujama, founder and CEO of Xceed365HR, shared how his career moved from electrical engineering into telecom and cloud software, then into building an HR platform for African mid-sized and large companies.
In a recent Techpoint Africa After Hours feature, Chuma Chukwujama explained his path from studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University to running an enterprise HR software company.
Chukwujama said his early work started when personal computers were still rare in Nigeria. He began by helping businesses computerise operations, which is the move from paper-based work to using PCs and basic business software.
He later shifted into systems integration, which means setting up computers, networks, and software so they work together inside an organisation. Over time, he moved from that services work into building software products, including work in telecommunications and cloud-based tools.
Today, he leads WorkflowsHR, an HR management system used to manage employee records, payroll inputs, and HR processes. Techpoint Africa described the product as cloud-native, meaning it runs on internet-hosted servers instead of being installed on a company’s local machines.
The profile frames the company as serving mid-sized and large enterprises across Africa. It also positions Chukwujama’s story as a long-term shift, from engineering training to building software that supports internal business operations.
HR software is a core layer of business infrastructure. It touches onboarding, employee data, leave, performance, and compliance, which are all areas where manual processes can slow teams down.
Chukwujama’s background also reflects a common pattern in African B2B tech. Many founders start in IT services or telecom projects, learn what enterprises struggle with, and then productise those lessons into SaaS, which is subscription software delivered over the internet.
For buyers, stories like this help explain why many local HR and payroll tools are designed around enterprise realities on the continent, including uneven connectivity, complex approval chains, and varied internal policies.
