TransferMate and Intuition Payment Solutions partnered to embed cross-border payments into campus billing, aiming for local-currency fees and faster refunds.
TransferMate has partnered with Intuition Payment Solutions to embed cross-border payments into higher education billing for institutions serving domestic and international students.
TransferMate said it has signed a strategic partnership with Cadanapay division Intuition Payment Solutions, a SaaS platform used by universities to manage tuition and campus commerce.
The plan is to integrate TransferMate’s embedded B2B payments infrastructure into Intuition’s platform. Embedded payments means the payment flow sits inside the software schools already use, instead of sending students to a separate bank portal.
According to TransferMate, its regulated payments network includes more than 100 licences. The company says this setup can help institutions accept cross-border payments in local currencies, issue faster refunds, reduce fees, and automate reconciliation, which is the matching of incoming payments to student accounts.
Intuition said it already provides tools like flexible payment plans, online storefronts, consolidated deposits, and ERP integrations. ERP is the back office system universities use for finance and records, similar to an operating system for administration.
Jamey Palmieri, COO at Intuition Payment Solutions, said the integration is meant to give schools a unified way to support students “wherever they are.”
International education payments are often slow, expensive, and hard to track. When families pay from another country, they can face unclear FX rates, intermediary bank fees, and delays that create support tickets for bursar offices.
For African students paying tuition abroad, local-currency collection and clearer fee breakdowns can reduce friction. It can also help schools that recruit across Africa improve payment success rates and reduce manual follow ups.
The deal also fits a wider fintech push toward embedded infrastructure across sectors. TransferMate has also been partnering in payroll and compliance, including a separate collaboration with Cadana to add statutory compliance infrastructure for global payroll.
