Swoop is rolling out a tiered rewards program in Lagos that links commission rebates, promo funding, and ads support to sales milestones for food…
Swoop is introducing Swoop Legends, a performance based rewards programme for independent food businesses in Lagos. The programme ties benefits like commission rebates, promotions, and advertising support to sales milestones.
Swoop, a food delivery platform operating in Lagos, says it is linking access to commission rebates, promotional funding, and advertising support to merchant performance. The company says the goal is to help small food businesses overcome barriers to expansion.
The initiative is called Swoop Legends. It adds a tiered structure on top of the usual delivery marketplace model where platforms connect restaurants with customers and earn commissions on orders.
Under Swoop Legends, participating merchants move through tiers named Hidden Gem, Rising Star, Local Favourite, and Swoop Legend. As merchants meet performance targets, they open up additional commercial benefits.
The programme launched on October 30 and starts with an eight week pilot involving five food businesses. One of the pilot participants is Freaks and Fabulous Eats, an independent food brand founded by Adesunloye Ebenezer Adeola in Anthony Village, Lagos. The other participants include two existing Swoop merchants and two newly acquired businesses.
Swoop says selected businesses will receive dedicated account management, marketing materials, increased visibility on the platform, promotional support, and weekly performance reports. Higher performing merchants can also access commission rebates, co funded promotions, dedicated advertising, and priority placement within the app.
Eligible businesses may also be considered for working capital and growth financing, subject to individual assessment and approval.
Swoop positions the programme as a way for digital platforms to deepen relationships with small businesses by offering support beyond customer acquisition. The company also points to rising operating costs as making expansion harder for Nigerian entrepreneurs.
For merchants, the pitch is simple, sell more on the app and open up lower costs and more marketing support. For Swoop, the structure encourages sellers to stay active and grow on the platform, while giving the company more ways to shape merchant performance and visibility.
