OPay debuted on the New York Stock Exchange, offering 16 million ADSs at $19 each in an IPO valuing the company at about $4 billion.
OPay has debuted on the New York Stock Exchange.
It listed 16 million American depositary shares, called ADSs, at $19 each.
The IPO values the Nigerian focused digital financial services provider at about $4 billion.
OPay, a SoftBank-backed fintech company, listed 16 million ADSs at $19 per ADS on the New York Stock Exchange. An ADS is a way for investors to buy shares in a non US company through a US listed security.
OPay priced the ADSs at the lower end of its previously stated $19 to $21 range. The company said in a statement that it is “a digital financial platform built to address the challenges of emerging markets.”
The shares trade under the ticker symbol OPAY. Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Standard Bank and China International Capital Corporation, called CICC, are joint book-running managers for the offering.
OPay also said underwriters have a 30 day option to buy up to an additional 2.4 million ADSs to cover over allotments, which is when demand is higher than the original allocation.
The listing follows OPay’s Form F-1 registration statement filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on October 9.
The IPO expands OPay’s shareholder base beyond its existing investors. SoftBank entities held a 6.6% stake in OPay before the offering, according to its registration filing.
OPay has also signaled interest in a Nigerian market listing. Nairametrics previously reported that the company was considering a listing on Nigerian Exchange Limited, called NGX. OPay later confirmed in October that its board and shareholders had approved a proposed secondary listing on the NGX after completing its primary listing on the NYSE.
OPay’s statement added that the offering is expected to close on November 2, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
