In Short

  • OneDosh signed a strategic partnership with Nigerian gaming creator PlaywithTomide.
  • The deal includes an equity stake for PlaywithTomide in OneDosh.
  • The companies say the goal is faster, more reliable cross-border payments for gamers and other digital communities.

What Happened

OneDosh is partnering with PlaywithTomide to push its cross-border payments product in Nigeria’s gaming and digital entertainment communities.

The deal gives PlaywithTomide an equity stake in OneDosh, meaning he is not just a brand partner, he is also a shareholder.

The partnership is positioned as a response to common payment issues Nigerian gamers face when paying for international services. These include failed card transactions, subscription restrictions, limited access to global payment platforms, and foreign exchange constraints, meaning limits tied to accessing and spending foreign currency.

OneDosh said it wants to integrate payments into existing online behaviour instead of asking users to adopt a separate financial tool. In practice, that means using content-led distribution such as live streams, tournaments, and interactive campaigns where the payment product is shown inside community activity.

OneDosh co-founder Babatunde Osinowo described the move as a shift toward community-based adoption. PlaywithTomide is expected to lead community activation, including gaming competitions, rewards, and collaborative events designed to drive product usage.

Why It Matters

Cross-border payments remain a pain point for many Nigerians who pay for global digital services, from gaming to freelancing and online commerce. When cards fail or subscriptions get blocked, users often resort to informal workarounds that add cost and risk.

For fintech operators, the distribution lesson is also clear. Influencers and creators are increasingly becoming direct customer acquisition channels, and in some cases, equity holders with incentives to drive long-term adoption.

If OneDosh can reliably support international spending through one app and card system, and win trust inside tightly knit communities, it could create a repeatable go-to-market model for other niche segments beyond gaming.
