Policies

The policies that govern how Liners operates — covering reviews, content, submissions, advertising, and more.

Last updated: March 26, 2026

1. Review Policy

Liners allows users to submit reviews for any product listed on the platform. Reviews are a core part of how we help people make informed decisions, and we take their integrity seriously.

1.1 Who Can Leave a Review

You must be signed in to leave a review. Each user may submit one review per product. You may edit your review after it has been approved, but edited reviews are reset to pending and re-moderated before being published again.

1.2 Review Content Standards

Reviews must be between 10 and 1,000 characters, include a star rating (1–5), and meet the following standards:

  • Be based on genuine, first-hand experience with the product.
  • Be specific — reference features, use cases, or experiences rather than generic praise or criticism.
  • Be written in a respectful tone, even when critical.
  • Not contain spam, promotional links, affiliate content, or gibberish.
  • Not contain hate speech, personal attacks, or offensive language.
  • Not violate anyone's privacy by sharing personal information.

1.3 Moderation

Every review submitted on Liners is automatically evaluated for quality, authenticity, and compliance. Reviews that pass all checks are published automatically. Reviews that are flagged are held for moe thorough review.

We evaluate reviews on several dimensions including content quality, specificity, conflict of interest signals, account trust indicators, and behavioural patterns. Our goal is to be fair but vigilant — genuine critical reviews are always welcome.

1.4 Verified Reviews

Reviewers can optionally upload proof of product usage (screenshots or photos, up to 5 images, max 5MB each). Reviews with valid proof are marked as "Verified" to indicate the reviewer submitted evidence of using the product. A verified badge does not guarantee the review is 100% accurate — it indicates the reviewer made an effort to substantiate their experience.

1.5 Companies Cannot Pay to Alter or Remove Reviews

Product owners cannot pay to have reviews removed, edited, or suppressed. Product owners may respond publicly to approved reviews on their claimed listing, but they cannot influence a review's visibility or rating.

1.6 Reporting a Review

If you believe a review violates our policies, you can report it. Valid report reasons include:

  • Spam or fake review.
  • Contains offensive or abusive language.
  • Conflict of interest (e.g. competitor or self-review).
  • Inaccurate or misleading information.
  • Violates privacy by sharing personal data.
  • Reviewer is not a genuine user of the product.

Our team reviews all reports. In some cases, we may reach out to the original reviewer for clarification before taking action. Reviewers have 14 days to respond to a clarification request. If no response is received, the report is resolved based on the available information.

2. Content Policy

Much of the content on Liners — including product descriptions, taglines, FAQs, and comparisons — is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors.

2.1 AI-Generated Content

Product descriptions, FAQs, category assignments, tag assignments, comparison articles, and company summaries are generated using AI models. This content is based on publicly available information from product websites and third-party data sources, and should not be relied upon as professional advice.

2.2 Corrections

If you are a product owner and find inaccurate information in your listing — including product details, company data, funding information, or team details — you can claim your product and request corrections. Anyone can also submit a report if they spot incorrect information on any listing. Individuals whose personal data appears on the Platform may request corrections or removal by contacting us directly.

3. Submission Policy

Anyone with an account can submit a product for listing on Liners. Submissions go through an automated pipeline that includes research, content generation, quality assurance, and classification.

3.1 What We Accept

We list software products and digital services. To be accepted, a product must:

  • Have a working, publicly accessible website.
  • Be a real, operational product (not a concept or coming-soon page).
  • Not duplicate an existing listing (we normalise URLs to prevent duplicates).

3.2 What We Don't Accept

We reserve the right to reject submissions that are fraudulent, misleading, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate. Products that fail quality assurance checks may be sent back for corrections before publication.

3.3 Editorial Discretion

Liners reserves the right to edit, modify, or remove any submission at our sole discretion. Submitted content may be rewritten for clarity, accuracy, or consistency.

4. Company Data Policy

Liners provides business intelligence about listed companies to help users make informed decisions. This data is sourced from third-party business data providers and publicly available information.

4.1 What Data We Display

For listed products, the Platform may display:

  • Company profiles: Headquarters location, contact information, social media links, estimated employee count, and technologies used.
  • Funding information: Funding rounds, amounts raised, dates, investors, and acquisition details.
  • Team information: Names, professional titles, and LinkedIn profiles of senior personnel (founders, executives, and vice-presidents).
  • News: Publicly available news articles referencing the company.
  • Job postings: Active job listings published by the company.

4.2 Data Sources and Accuracy

Company data is sourced from third-party business intelligence providers and publicly available information. While we strive for accuracy, this data may not always be current or complete. We do not independently verify every data point. For details on how we source product data, see our data sourcing documentation.

4.3 Data Refresh

Company data is refreshed on a rolling basis: organisation profiles approximately every 3 months, news and job postings approximately monthly, and team information approximately annually. Products that are no longer published on the Platform are not refreshed.

4.4 Access Requirements

Funding data is publicly visible to all visitors. Full team listings, complete news archives, and complete job postings require a signed-in account. A limited preview of this data is shown to visitors who are not signed in.

4.5 Corrections and Removal

Product owners who have claimed their listing can request corrections to any company data displayed on their page. Individuals whose personal data appears on the Platform (such as team members listed on a company profile) may request correction or removal of their data by contacting us at hello@liners.com. We will process such requests promptly and ensure removed data does not reappear in subsequent data refreshes.

4.6 Administrative Controls

Liners reserves the right to hide, edit, or remove any company data at our sole discretion, including data that is inaccurate, misleading, or that we determine should not be displayed.

5. Claiming and Verification Policy

Product owners can claim ownership of their listing through our domain-based verification process. Claiming a listing grants you the ability to manage your product information and respond to reviews.

5.1 Verified Badge

Products that have been verified display a verified badge. This badge indicates the product owner has confirmed the listing information is accurate. It does not constitute an endorsement by Liners. Verified products receive slightly higher visibility in our default ranking (see our ranking documentation).

5.2 Verification Outreach

After a product is published, we reach out to product owners via email to invite them to verify their listing. This outreach consists of up to 5 emails over 30 days. You can stop receiving these emails at any time by verifying your listing or replying to any of the emails.

6. Reporting Policy

Users can report issues with any product listing. You must be signed in to submit a report. Valid report types include:

  • Broken Link — the product's website is no longer accessible.
  • Wrong Category — the product is listed in an incorrect category.
  • Wrong Information — the listing contains factual errors.
  • Outdated — the listing information is no longer current.
  • Other — any other issue not covered above.

Reports are reviewed by our team and resolved, dismissed, or actioned as appropriate.

7. Advertising Policy

Liners may display advertisements from third-party advertisers. All advertisements are reviewed before going live. We reserve the right to reject any advertisement that is misleading, inappropriate, or incompatible with our platform.

Advertisements are clearly labelled as such and are separate from organic product listings. Advertising does not influence product rankings, reviews, or editorial content.

8. Ranking Policy

Products on Liners are displayed in a daily randomised order by default. Verified products receive slightly higher weighting in the shuffle. Users can override the default order by sorting by name or publication date.

Search results are ranked by relevance when semantic search is available, and by publication date otherwise. For full details, see our ranking documentation.

9. Email Communication Policy

9.1 Transactional Emails

We send transactional emails related to your activity on the platform, including:

  • Submission confirmations and publication notices.
  • Review clarification requests.
  • Verification outreach (up to 5 emails over 30 days for product owners).
  • Report resolution updates.

9.2 Platform Updates

Registered members receive platform updates and product newsletters as part of their membership. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link provided in each email. We do not accept disposable or temporary email addresses for account registration.

10. Contact

If you have questions about any of these policies, please contact us at hello@liners.com.
