Naked Insurance says its new native ChatGPT app can return a final, binding car insurance quote, connected to its live underwriting engine.
South African insurer Naked Insurance says it has built and deployed a native ChatGPT app that can give users a final car insurance quote.
A “native app in ChatGPT” is a tool that runs inside the ChatGPT interface, so a user can ask for a quote in a chat, instead of filling out a form on a website. Naked says the quote is binding because the ChatGPT app connects directly to the same live underwriting and rating engine that powers quotes and purchases on Naked’s own website and mobile app.
Underwriting is the process insurers use to price risk, which means deciding how likely a claim is and what premium to charge. A rating engine is the software that turns those risk rules into an actual price. Because the ChatGPT app uses the live system, Naked says customers do not need to redo the quote elsewhere to get a final premium.
The company also frames the release as an early move toward AI assistants becoming a standard way people compare and manage financial products.
Insurance shopping is often admin-heavy, with repeated data entry and hard-to-compare policy wording. If more insurers expose live quoting and policy management through AI assistants, customers could handle renewals, comparisons, and switching through a chat-based interface.
Naked says its website and mobile app are still the fastest ways to buy cover, update a policy, or submit a claim. But the ChatGPT app is a signal that the company expects conversational AI to become another front door for insurance distribution and customer support.
