MonieWorld, Moniepoint’s UK remittance app, is integrating Confirmation of Payee via tell.money to reduce fraud and wrong-account transfers.
MonieWorld, Moniepoint’s UK remittance platform, has partnered with tell.money to strengthen payment security for cross-border transfers. The work is being implemented through MonieWorld, also described as Moniepoint GB.
The key change is the integration of Confirmation of Payee, often shortened to CoP. CoP is an account name-checking service used in UK banking. It confirms that the recipient name matches the account details before a bank transfer goes through, similar to “double-checking the name on a delivery address before dispatch.”
Moniepoint says CoP should reduce the risk of sending money to the wrong bank account and help limit certain types of authorised push payment fraud, where scammers trick users into making transfers. It also helps newly authorised firms meet UK compliance expectations for safer payments.
MonieWorld launched a little over a year ago and targets Africans living and working abroad, especially Nigerians in the UK. The product supports multiple funding options for sending money to Nigerian bank accounts, including wallets, UK bank accounts, debit and credit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Under the partnership, tell.money provides the underlying account verification infrastructure that powers the CoP recipient name-check. Moniepoint said tell.money could deploy quickly and with minimal operational disruption.
UK regulators and banks are pushing harder on payment verification and fraud controls, especially for real-time transfers where money moves fast and is hard to reverse. For remittance providers serving diaspora users, CoP can reduce failed transfers, customer complaints, and fraud losses.
For Moniepoint, this is also a signal of deeper UK market execution. Better compliance tooling can free teams to focus on growth, customer acquisition, and expanding remittance product features.
