At GITEX Kenya 2026, Glovo Kenya awarded Geoinfortrak the PowerUp Award, including a fully funded residency at Glovo HQ in Barcelona.
Glovo Kenya used GITEX Kenya 2026 to highlight how it applies AI in day-to-day delivery operations. It also awarded Geoinfortrak International Limited the Glovo Kenya PowerUp Award 2026. The prize includes a fully funded residency at Glovo’s Barcelona headquarters, called Yellow Park.
At GITEX Kenya 2026 in Nairobi, Glovo positioned AI as practical tooling for the “everyday economy,” meaning the informal and small business activity that keeps cities running. Caroline Mutuku, managing director of Glovo Kenya, said AI is only useful if it helps merchants, riders, and customers solve daily operational problems.
Glovo described how it already uses data and predictive intelligence, which is AI that forecasts what is likely to happen next based on past patterns.
For merchants such as restaurants and small shops, Glovo said predictive models help anticipate demand, plan staffing and inventory, reduce food waste, and identify peak trading hours.
For independent riders, Glovo said its models aim to reduce idle time between deliveries and improve route efficiency. The company also referenced an in-app safety feature built with Kenya’s National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). It provides driving analytics, which are app-based signals that can flag risky driving patterns.
For customers, Glovo said it uses personalized recommendations based on order history, location, and time of day.
Beyond operations, Glovo said it is also applying automation, which is software that handles repetitive tasks, to improve internal productivity across teams like engineering, customer support, finance, and legal.
Glovo also acted as an ecosystem partner and judge for the GITEX Supernova Startup Challenge. Geoinfortrak International Limited won the Glovo Kenya PowerUp Award and will travel to Yellow Park in October for mentorship, exposure to the European startup ecosystem, and investor pitch sessions.
For Kenyan startups, corporate-backed residencies can be a direct route to networks, mentors, and expansion support outside the region. For local merchants and riders, Glovo’s message signals where AI adoption may show up first, in demand forecasting, routing, and safety tools that affect earnings and service quality.
