EasyEquities investing is coming to the Absa Banking App from October 2026, giving more than 12 million Absa customers an in-app route to markets.
EasyEquities will be available inside the Absa Banking App from October 2026.
The move puts an investing option in front of more than 12 million Absa customers, using a banking app many already open daily.
EasyEquities said its investing experience will launch within the Absa Banking App from October 2026. Instead of downloading a separate investing app, Absa customers will be able to start investing from inside their banking interface.
This is a form of embedded investing, which means investing tools are built into another product people already use, like adding a “buy shares” tab inside your banking app.
EasyEquities, which is owned by Purple Group, framed the partnership as a step toward making market access simpler for more South Africans. Absa’s personal and private banking leadership said the integration is built on existing overlap between the two customer bases.
The companies shared some baseline numbers that show that overlap. EasyEquities said more than 70,000 of its clients already bank with Absa. It also said over 30,000 Absa shareholders and 27,000 investors in Absa investment products currently invest through EasyEquities.
Distribution is still one of the biggest barriers in retail investing. Many people never get past the first step, which is opening an account and funding it.
By placing EasyEquities inside a major bank app, the partnership reduces that friction. It also positions Absa to keep more customer activity inside its own ecosystem, rather than sending customers to standalone investment apps.
For South Africa’s wealthtech and retail brokerage market, this is another sign that banks are treating investing as a core feature, not a separate product.
It could also intensify competition with other bank-linked platforms such as SatrixNOW, especially as more customers look for low-effort ways to buy ETFs (bundles of shares, like a pre-packed basket) and individual stocks.
