Cauridor has hired former Flutterwave operations leader Awa Koné as COO as the Guinea-based cross-border payments firm expands beyond its early build phase.
Cauridor has appointed Awa Koné as Chief Operating Officer. Cauridor is a Guinea-based cross-border payments infrastructure company.
Koné previously led operations at Flutterwave. Her hire comes as Cauridor moves from building its rails to scaling into new markets.
Cauridor said Koné will lead execution across operations as the company expands. A COO typically owns day-to-day delivery, including how teams run, how processes scale, and how risk is managed.
Koné spent more than five years at Flutterwave as Global Head of Operations. At Flutterwave, she worked on building and scaling payment infrastructure across multiple regions, including Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
Before Flutterwave, she was a General Manager at Swiss Re. There, she led a greenfield expansion into Côte d’Ivoire, meaning she helped launch operations from scratch in a new market.
Cauridor, founded in Guinea in 2022 by Oumar Barry and Abdoulaye Bah, positions itself as a middle layer for cross-border payments. It connects mobile money providers, banks, and international money transfer operators through an API, which is a standard way for software systems to talk to each other.
The company says it operates across 36 countries. It sells to international money transfer operators, mobile network operators, banks, fintechs, SMEs, and payroll providers.
Cross-border payments are operationally heavy. They involve multiple partners, different regulations, FX handling, and fraud controls across countries.
Cauridor is now hiring for scale, not just build. Bringing in an operator who has run complex payment operations at a large fintech signals a push to increase reliability, manage risk, and support more corridors as it enters new markets.
Koné also said she will apply her experience across operations, risk, treasury, and cross-border payments. Treasury is the function that manages liquidity, meaning having enough money in the right place at the right time to settle transactions.
