Breet Earns Iso/iec 27001:2022 Security Certification

What Happened

Breet announced on September 16, 2026 that it has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. ISO/IEC 27001 is a global standard for running an information security management system, or ISMS, which is the way a company organises people, processes, and tools to protect data.

Breet said the certification came after an independent audit of how it manages information security. It also positioned the milestone as a continuation of its compliance work after securing PCI DSS certification.

PCI DSS is a security standard focused on protecting payment card data. ISO/IEC 27001 is broader, it covers how a business identifies risks, assigns ownership, applies safeguards, and proves those safeguards work over time.

In its blog post, Breet described ISO/IEC 27001 as more than a one-time checklist. The company highlighted that the standard involves meeting core requirements and mapping controls across areas like organisational practices, staff training, physical security, and technology controls.

Why It Matters

For fintechs and crypto off-ramp providers, security certifications are increasingly a baseline for partnerships. Banks, payment processors, and enterprise clients often ask for proof of controls before they integrate APIs or allow access to customer data.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 can also make internal security work more repeatable. It pushes companies to document how they handle incidents, manage access, review vendors, and train staff, then improve those processes continuously.

For users, the certification is not a guarantee that breaches cannot happen. It is a signal that Breet has been audited against a recognised security framework, and that it has formal routines for reducing risk and responding when something goes wrong.
