Bolt Plus is now live in Kenya with ride cashback, delivery perks, and priority driver matching. It takes on Uber One and Glovo Prime pricing.
Bolt Plus has launched in Kenya as a paid subscription for frequent riders and delivery users. It costs KSh280 per month or KSh899 per year.
Bolt Plus is Bolt’s new membership plan in Kenya, designed to reward repeat customers with discounts and priority service. The offer bundles ride-hailing and food delivery benefits under one recurring fee, similar to a “loyalty membership” that pays back users through savings.
Bolt Plus includes up to 10% cashback on eligible rides, credited to a user’s in-app wallet balance. It also offers free delivery on eligible food and retail orders via Bolt Food, priority driver matching, and three free ride cancellations per month. Bolt said delivery savings can reach up to KSh200 per eligible order.
Bolt is also pushing an introductory deal, a free first month, then six months at KSh119 per month before the standard KSh280 rate applies.
The launch puts Bolt in closer competition with Uber One, which also charges KSh280 per month in Kenya, but costs more on an annual plan at KSh2,800. Uber One’s benefits include ride cashback and reduced delivery and service fees on qualifying orders through Uber Eats, usually above a minimum basket size.
On the delivery side, Glovo continues to sell Glovo Prime at KSh400 per month, focused mainly on free delivery and member promotions. Glovo has said customers save around KSh150 per order on average, but the actual value depends on how often a user orders and which merchants qualify.
Subscriptions are becoming a retention tool for mobility and delivery apps in Kenya. Instead of winning users one trip at a time, platforms can lock in repeat usage through monthly fees and bundled perks.
For customers, the main decision is frequency. If someone takes enough rides or places enough delivery orders, cashback and fee waivers can offset the membership cost. For platforms, annual pricing can be a lever, and Bolt’s KSh899 yearly plan is a clear undercut versus Uber One’s annual fee.
Expect more competition around qualifying ride categories, delivery minimums, and which restaurants and shops count as “eligible” for member savings.
