Banque Atlantique Bénin has launched Atlantique PI, a mobile payment application designed for instant transfers across the UEMOA region. The launch follows the BCEAO rollout of an interoperable instant payment platform for UEMOA.

Interoperable means different providers can connect and work together, like one shared rail that banks, fintechs, and mobile money operators can all use. Instant payment means the transfer arrives in real time, not hours later or the next day.

According to the bank, Atlantique PI lets customers send and receive money instantly, at any time, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. The bank also says the service is designed to be simple to use and secure, and that transactions come with no fees.

Atlantique PI is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The bank positions the app as a direct entry point for its customers into the new UEMOA-wide instant payments ecosystem.

Why It Matters

UEMOA payments have historically been fragmented, with many transfers staying inside one bank or one mobile money network. A shared BCEAO instant payment platform can reduce that fragmentation and make cross-provider transfers more routine.
