African Jober
Recruitment and outsourcing job portal
Epitaph
“Here lies African Jober. A Swiss private banker taught himself to code and built a portal to match skilled Africans with employers worldwide. It filed dormant accounts, then nothing at all. The job board that promised work never found any of its own.”

Akunorbea Richill Tamakloe describes quitting private banking in Switzerland, learning to code for a year and building africanjober.com in four months
Autopsy report
Why did African Jober shut down?
AfricanJober (africanjober.com) was a job portal founded by Akunorbea Richill Tamakloe, a former private banker in Switzerland who moved to Ghana, taught himself to code and built the site. It described itself as a recruitment and outsourcing platform that would train and identify skilled Africans and connect them to local and international employers. Almost nothing about the company is documented beyond a founder interview published in August 2016, and no account of how or when it ended was found.
What African Jober attempted
A job and outsourcing marketplace built around a matching algorithm intended to simplify the search for talent, positioned both at graduates who needed to become more employable and at employers hiring Africans for remote or on-site work, projects and tasks. The founder described the platform as targeting the gap between rising graduate unemployment in Ghana and employers unable to find suitable candidates.
What happened
AFRICANJOBER LIMITED, UK company number 10180012, incorporated 13 May 2016, registered office 259 Edgwarebury Lane, Edgware, Middlesex HA8 8QL, SIC 78300 'human resources provision and management of human resources functions', sole director Akunorbea Richill Tamakloe appointed on incorporation. Filing history: confirmation statement filed 20 June 2017; dormant-company accounts to 31 May 2017 filed 8 April 2018; first Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off 31 July 2018; final Gazette, dissolved by compulsory strike-off, 16 October 2018. Companies House shows the company status as Dissolved. Separately, africanjober.com no longer has DNS records at all: it failed to resolve on 2 August 2026 in the same batch of lookups in which afradio.co, ahwenepa.com, africahealthholdings.com and talentsinafrica.com all resolved normally, so this is a real dead domain rather than a network artefact.
Lessons for future builders
- A company that files only dormant accounts is telling the registry what the founder will not tell anyone else: nothing is trading. Incorporating, buying a domain and giving interviews are the cheap parts, and none of them is evidence that a product exists.
