How DD Dave researches and compiles team, funding, news, and job data for every product listing.
Every product on Liners gets a basic listing: name, description, website, categories. But for many products, we go deeper.
DD Dave researches and compiles additional company data: who works there, how they're funded, what the press is saying, and whether they're hiring.
This page explains what data we collect, how we find it, and how often it's updated.
We compile four categories of company data for product listings:
Not every product has data in all four categories. If Dave can't find reliable data for a category, it simply won't appear on the listing.
DD Dave treats every product like a research project. When a product is added to Liners, Dave runs a deep search across publicly available sources: company websites, press releases, job boards, regulatory filings, and investment databases.
He cross-references multiple sources to build a complete picture: who founded the company, how much they've raised, who invested, what the press has covered, and what roles they're filling. The data is then structured, deduplicated, and attached to the product listing.
Dave doesn't make things up. If the data isn't out there, he doesn't fabricate it. Every data point traces back to a public source.
Data freshness depends on the category:
| Category | Refresh frequency |
|---|---|
| Funding & company info | Every 3 months |
| News | Monthly |
| Jobs | Monthly |
| People | Annually |
When Dave refreshes data, he checks for new entries and updates existing ones. Stale records (like job postings for positions that are no longer open) are automatically cleaned up.
Some data is gated behind sign-in:
We gate certain data to protect against automated scraping and to respect the sensitivity of team information. Creating an account is free and takes about 10 seconds.
All data comes from publicly available sources and is compiled automatically. While Dave does his best to get things right, the data may occasionally be incomplete or out of date. Companies raise rounds, people change roles, and news moves fast.
If you spot something that's wrong, you can report it using the report feature on any product page. Our team reviews reports and corrects inaccuracies promptly. Product owners who have claimed their listing can also flag data issues directly.
