TTCL met UK Export Finance, BII, Afreximbank, Invest Africa and Meta in London to discuss fibre rollout and a national data centre. No deal yet.
TTCL says it held a series of strategic meetings in London to explore partnerships and investment for Tanzania telecom and digital infrastructure projects.
Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation, TTCL, said its delegation visited London from October 6 to 9, 2026. The team was led by director general Moremi Marwa.
TTCL said it met with UK Export Finance (UKEF), British International Investment (BII), Afreximbank, Invest Africa, and Meta. The goal was to discuss cooperation and possible investment tied to communications and information technology.
The conversations focused on three areas. The first was expanding “Faiba Mlangoni Kwako”, TTCL’s fibre to the home rollout. Fiber to the Home, or FTTH, means running fibre optic cable directly into homes, not just to a street cabinet.
The second area was the National Data Centre. A data centre is a secured facility that stores and runs computer servers, similar to a large, managed computer room for government and businesses.
The third area was broader support for digital infrastructure and digital services, including how TTCL can grow its business and compete better in the telecom market.
TTCL said the visit did not announce a confirmed financing deal. It also said it is now following up on the discussions to assess which partnership and investment options can move forward.
For Tanzania, FTTH expansion can improve fixed broadband speed and reliability, which affects everything from remote work to online learning.
A stronger national data centre can also reduce reliance on overseas hosting, improve latency (how fast data moves), and support public sector digitisation.
For investors and suppliers, TTCL’s outreach signals active project planning. But the next step to watch is whether talks convert into signed mandates, financing facilities, or vendor contracts.
