Tizeti will promote its CTO to Managing Director from July 1, 2026, aiming to speed up fiber rollout and scale its FreeFiber broadband platform.
Tizeti, the Nigerian internet service provider behind Wifi.com.ng, is elevating its Chief Technology Officer to Managing Director from July 1, 2026. The move is part of a wider leadership reshuffle intended to speed up fiber deployment.
Fiber refers to internet delivered through glass cables, it is usually faster and more stable than wireless broadband. For operators, rolling out fiber is execution-heavy work. It requires street-level coordination, permits, trenching, last-mile connections, and ongoing maintenance.
By moving the CTO into the Managing Director role, Tizeti is signalling that network build-out and operational delivery are now the centre of its strategy. The company said the goal is to tighten execution while it scales its FreeFiber platform. FreeFiber is Tizeti’s brand for home fiber broadband, sold as a fixed internet connection for households and small offices.
Nigeria’s broadband market is shifting from coverage claims to reliability. More consumers want predictable speeds for remote work, streaming, and small business operations. Fiber is often the product that can meet that expectation, but only when rollout is consistent and service quality holds up.
For Tizeti, a CTO-led leadership model can shorten the distance between network planning and on-the-ground delivery. It can also help align product promises, like installation timelines and uptime, with what the infrastructure team can actually execute.
The next signal to watch is pace. If Tizeti can connect more homes faster, reduce installation backlogs, and keep service stable as it expands, this leadership change will read as a practical bet on operational discipline, not just a title change.
