Spiro launched in Ghana with the Ekon 450 M1 V3 electric motorcycle and a two minute battery swapping system for riders and fleets.
Spiro is expanding into Ghana with the Ekon 450 M1 V3 electric motorcycle and a battery swapping service.
Spiro, which it describes as Africa’s largest electric mobility company, said it is entering Ghana with an “integrated offering” that combines electric motorcycles with access to charged batteries.
The company’s Ghana rollout includes the Ekon 450 M1 V3 electric motorcycle and a battery swapping solution. Battery swapping means a rider does not wait to charge, they exchange a depleted battery for a charged one at a swapping station.
Spiro said battery swaps at its stations can be completed in two minutes. It also said riders could save up to USD 2 per day in operating costs compared with petrol powered motorcycles.
The company positioned the offer for commercial riders and delivery fleets, where fuel costs and time off the road can reduce daily earnings. Spiro also said it plans test rides and product demonstrations across Greater Accra to support the rollout.
Spiro is pitching battery swapping as a way to reduce downtime and lower daily operating costs for commercial motorcycle users in Ghana.
The company also framed the entry as part of building a “new mobility option” for commercial riders and delivery fleets, and as support for Ghana’s transition toward sustainable mobility.
