Investec says its Private Bank won the 2026/27 Ask Afrika Orange Index overall title and a 2026 National Financial Ombud dispute resolution award.
Investec Private Bank picked up two independent South African awards in 2026, one for customer experience and one for complaint handling.
Investec said its Private Bank was named Overall Winner of the 2026/27 Ask Afrika Orange Index. The bank also won the Category B banking award at the 2026 National Financial Ombud Scheme Excellence in Dispute Resolution Awards.
The Ask Afrika Orange Index is a customer experience benchmark based on direct feedback from South Africans who have interacted with the brands being measured. Investec said it ranked first in the Private Banking category. It also recorded the highest customer experience score across 219 brands in 27 industries.
Ask Afrika’s 2026/27 research, as cited by Investec, used 54,182 interviews and scored brands across 43 measures. These measures include competence, responsiveness, resolution, effort, trust, empathy, and whether customers felt understood. Investec said its Private Bank achieved a score of 83.45.
The second award, from the National Financial Ombud Scheme, focuses on dispute resolution. That means how a bank responds when a customer raises a concern or files a complaint. Investec said the award looks at areas like turnaround times, the quality of responses, and the fairness of complaint outcomes.
Banks across Africa are investing in mobile apps and self-service tools, but service quality still decides whether high value customers stay. Awards like the Orange Index signal how a bank performs on day-to-day interactions, not just product features.
Dispute resolution is also becoming a bigger deal as more consumers use digital channels and expect fast fixes when something goes wrong. For banks, strong complaint handling can reduce churn and regulatory pressure. It can also protect trust, which is hard to rebuild once customers feel ignored.
Investec also pointed to a wider customer satisfaction gap in South Africa. The bank cited Orange Index research showing 90% of South Africans said they were satisfied with service, but only 48% said they were delighted. That gap is where private banks and premium financial services try to compete, by pairing technology with relationship-driven support.
