CIM Financial Services gets SEM approval to list a MUR 1B tranche of 5.15% notes as green bonds. Listing starts October 13, 2026.
CIM Financial Services Ltd received approval from the SEM to list an additional tranche of notes under its existing MUR 9 billion Medium Term Note (MTN) programme.
An MTN programme is a pre-approved shelf for issuing debt over time, similar to having a reusable template for raising money in multiple rounds. This new tranche totals MUR 1 billion and carries a 5.15% coupon, which is the interest rate paid to investors.
SEM said the listing will be done via private placement, meaning the notes were offered to a selected set of investors rather than the general public. The notes will list on SEM’s Official Market.
The exchange also flagged that it does not expect an active secondary market to develop. In plain terms, investors may find it hard to resell these notes frequently, and many buyers may plan to hold them until maturity.
Debt listings like this help deepen local capital markets in Mauritius by giving institutional investors more fixed income products, including labelled green bonds.
For financial services firms, a listed note can broaden funding options beyond bank loans. It can also provide longer-term funding certainty, even if trading liquidity remains limited.
For the broader ecosystem, labelled green bond issuance can signal growing demand for climate-aligned finance structures, with clearer rules on how proceeds are used and reported.
