BIAT has launched BIAT Privilèges, a new application that gives BIAT customers access to a marketplace of discounts and exclusive offers.
A marketplace, in this case, is a catalogue of deals from partner merchants, similar to a coupons app but tied to a bank relationship. BIAT says the offers are negotiated with hundreds of partner retailers and service providers.
The bank said the product was developed in partnership with FreeOui and other partners. BIAT Privilèges includes more than 450 brands, covering over 1,300 physical points of sale across Tunisia.
The offers span everyday spending categories like shopping, travel, restaurants, wellness, healthcare, and culture. Users can browse deals by theme, and filter them based on location and personal interests.
For banks, apps like BIAT Privilèges are a retention tool, meaning a way to keep customers engaged and less likely to switch providers. Rather than competing only on account features, banks can add value around spending and lifestyle benefits.
For merchants, it is another acquisition channel. They get visibility to BIAT’s customer base, and the bank helps direct demand through targeted promotions.
More broadly, the launch reflects how African banks are building “extra-banking” services, meaning products that sit next to core banking like payments, transfers, and loans. The goal is to become a daily-use app, not just a place to check balances.
On Liners, BIAT is listed as BIAT.
